Philadelphia – Today, President of the National Association of Asian American Professionals, Brad Baldia, extended the deadline for NAAAP’s charitable giving campaign to benefit disaster relief in Southeast Asia from Dec. 1 to the end of the  year.

“As the holidays near and we think about charitable giving domestically,” said Baldia. “I urge 100% of our members to think about what one dollar pledged can do for the people in the Philippines, Indonesia and the Pacific Islands affected by severe typhoon, earthquake, and landslides just two short months ago.”

For many years, NAAAP members have come together to donate needed funds to worthy causes to benefit the Asian community in North America and overseas.  These included the 2004 tsunami disaster relief that resulted in more than $10,000 donated by NAAAP members.

Hai Ly Burk, president of NAAAP-NC chapter, says “Many of the NC chapter members are professionally involved with disaster relief, public health, and global education. We are committed to 100% participation, no matter the size of the donation. Imagine if every member in every NAAAP chapter and venture donates just one dollar, 100% participation would result in a significant impact. Are you with us?”

UNICEF is NAAAP’s recipient agency of choice, as UNICEF is actively engaged and effective in disaster relief in the affected areas in Southeast Asia. NAAAP National has set up a Web page where anyone may donate to this cause:
NAAAP is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and we will issue a tax deductible receipt to every individual who makes a donation. The deadline to send in a donation has been extended to December 31, 2009.
