Best Places for Asians To Work

The National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP) invites you to participate in our inaugural rankings on The Best Companies for Asians to Work for – U.S. edition

This exclusive NAAAP initiative provides organizations an excellent opportunity to stand out from their peers in terms of their relationships and interactions with Asian Americans. We wanted to transcend a “pay-to-play” ranking.  Largest U.S. companies and ones with substantive diversity programs were invited to describe various corporate policies and practices as it affected Asian employees and the community.  NAAAP contracted a third-party research team consisting of the Center for Research on Employment and the Workforce (CREW) at Cal State Fullerton and Spectrum Knowledge, a private firm, to evaluate the corporate applications.

NAAAP honored top performing companies in 5 categories at the 25th Annual NAAAP National Convention and Diversity Career Fair in Boston in August 2011.  The categories were:
   Asian Employee Resource Group
   Supplier Diversity
   Community Engagement
   Asians in Leadership
   Best Overall

Five companies were recognized in the 2011 Best Overall cateogry.  They were:  HP, General Mills, Macy's, McDonald's, and Northern Trust.  NAAAP looks forward to continued improvement by these companies as well as other companies that did not apply.  NAAAP commits to working with companies that wish to start, grow, or polish their programs to become Best Places for Asians (and all people) to Work.

Why participate in Asian Corporate Rankings?
  • Positive Publicity: NAAAP and Cal State Fullerton, along with our partners, will distribute the ranking results widely across our networks to highlight companies that rank high. The publication will consist of both electronic and print editions that showcase the top-ranked companies. We avoid negative publicity for our participants and only discuss best practices and positive highlights of participating organizations.
  • Enhance Your Business: Beyond the potential for positive publicity, your organization has the opportunity to enhance recruitment, retention and development. By gaining recognition within our rankings, or even as a participant, your organization will showcase its strengths as an Asian-American friendly one.
  • Contribute to Diversity and Asian Americans: As a participant, your organization will contribute to the growing body of organizations that support diversity, and in this case, Asian Americans. These diversity initiatives benefit organizations across the U.S. and beyond, as we increase productivity, innovation, adaptability, cultural awareness and collaboration.
  • Unbiased and Fair: We feature an unbiased and fair rating system. NAAAP has partnered with California State University—Fullerton’s Asian American IQ, an independent, third-party to rank the applicants. Companies that have a business relationship with NAAAP or Cal State Fullerton receive no preferential treatment and all applicants are treated fairly.
  • Information Kept Confidential: We do not divulge private company data and respect the importance of the information submitted. We only seek to showcase top-ranked companies’ strengths and best practices, as we keep all sensitive information confidential.
  • No Charge to Participate: Finally, there is no charge to apply and participate. All participants will receive a free copy of the rankings.
