SUMMARY:Embodying and Practicing Anti-Bias & Anti-Racism in the Workplace
DESCRIPTION:This training teaches one how to embody and practice an Anti-Bias and Anti-Racist or “ABAR” lens in the workplace. After the death of George Floyd\, the rise of anti-Asian violence\, the rise of xenophobia\, perceptual bias against the LGBTQIA+ community\, and the list of -ism that harm intentionally marginalized communities\, ABAR work has been helpful in changing how we think and operate in making workplaces more inclusive\, diverse\, and equitable. Racism and bias existed before these moments\, so intentional ABAR work is long overdue. ABAR is active\, lives in the body\, and requires practice. Thus\, in this training participants can expect to get uncomfortable\, reflect\, and create their own commitments to continue strengthening their own ABAR lens and ways of being. While anti-racism assumes that we exist in a racist society founded upon white supremacy and anti-blackness\, anti-bias work assumes that even people of color perpetuate harm in the workplace based on identity. This training recognizes that no one is absolved of bias\, and we actively must commit to our own praxis\, which is a cycle of action and reflection to create safer and braver places to work. \nOutcomes: \n\n\nParticipants will define and identify aspects of Anti-Bias and Anti-Racist actions and ways of being in order to be a stronger ally to co-workers that have marginalized identities. \n\n\nParticipants will practice Anti-Bias and Anti-Racist actions and ways of being at work through case study analysis \n\n\nParticipants will be exposed to Anti-Bias and Anti-Racist resources that they can explore on their own time and to fit their unique needs.
