Lance Hong: Why I give to NAAAP

Lance Hong, Los Angeles, CA

NAAAP has only been in my life over the last 2 years, but it has made a profound impact on my life in ways that I had never really considered until almost a decade into my professional career. Like many other chapter officers can relate to, I became involved with NAAAP because my circle of friends were already giving to the community, and having fun with it!
Around the time that I had joined the LA chapter, I had just landed a great job opportunity in the biopharmaceutical industry after having been desperately looking to make ends meet for 9 months or so. During those 9 months, I was participating in Experience Unlimited, where I learned and polished my job development skills (i.e. Mock interviews , “Tell Me About Yourself”, etc.) in order to maximize my chances of returning to the workforce. Many other job seeking professionals in this program have shared his or her wealth of job seeking knowledge with me which had kept me motivated to jump over that 9 month hurdle and to have the confidence knowing that I understand how to spring into action in order to recover from unemployment.

I give to NAAAP because I believe that the right person deserves to land the best career opportunities. Great leaders make more great leaders, and NAAAP is the “playground” to create real impact within the community at large.

Give Now.
